Spanish badminton causes a sensation on and off the court at Santander 2022

The host team Spain is one of the sensations of the Santander 2022 World Junior Championships. First of all, because of its rallying cry that grabs all the attention, but above all because of the great form of the Spanish players. What’s more, Spanish badminton has made history by qualifying for the quarter-finals of a World Championships for the first time.

Once achieved, the Spanish national team faced a challenge of the highest level in search of a place in the semi-finals: they faced the powerful team from Korea, one of the contenders for the title.

The players coached by Ernesto García, Salvador Franco and Rafa Vázquez were in high spirits, as Rubén García and Lucía Rodríguez showed in the first match: they came close to surprise everyone watching the game, but in the end it was the Asians who got their place in the semi-finals with a 3-0 win.
