The capital of Cantabria hosts the constitution of the Organizing Committee of the ‘BWF World Championships presented by YONEX’, which will be held in 2022, from October 17 to 30, at the Palacio de Deportes.
Santander and all Spain is already working in the ‘BWF World Junior Championships 2022 presented by YONEX’. The first step has been the constitution of the Organizing Committee, made up by institutions such as the Santander City Council and the Government of Cantabria.
More specifically, the ‘BWF World Junior Championships 2022 presented by YONEX’ Santander 2022 are organized thanks to the support of the Santander City Council (through its Department of Sports), the Government of Cantabria (through the General Directorate of Sports and the General Directorate of Tourism), and the Higher Sports Council. The Spanish Badminton Federation and the Cantabrian Badminton Federation are the main organizers with the Badminton World Federation (BWF).
The president of the Spanish Badminton Federation, Andoni Azurmendi, explains that “this is an event of great tradition in the world of badminton because it will face the next champions of the Olympic Games and the World Championships. It’s an event with a great international reputation that will involve hundreds of players and fans to Santander. The Junior World Championships are followed all over the world and will put the capital and all of Cantabria on the map, especially in Asian countries.”
