The family who makes the BWF World Junior Championships possible

Nobody knows better than them the effort that is involved in setting up the event and making everything work out during the 15 days, when the best junior badminton players   duel in Santander. This organising committee has a large experience gathered in several World and European Championships.

A team of more than 200 people, including employees of the Spanish federation, staff hired for the event and volunteers. Some of them have been working tirelessly for many months so that, once everyone is in Santander, the tournament can run perfectly.

The fitters, general secretariat, management, volunteers, line judges, technical officials, physio team, communication… Many people who love this sport and give the best of themselves every endless day. Every day, these professionals spend an average of 14 hours in the pavilion, arriving before anyone else to prepare the facility and leaving well after the end of the last match.

So many hours of hard work go better when the atmosphere is one of collaboration. And collaboration and good humour are never lacking in the guts of this great sporting event.

Proof of the work carried out is reflected in figures such as the 80 kilos of fruit bought every two or three days, the 700 menus ordered for the entire World Cup or the approximately 10 kilometres of string used by the stringing service. With that length of rope we could get from the Sardinero beach to Santander airport. Can you imagine that?

With the main objective of ensuring that the participants and the public enjoy this great sporting event to the maximum, the organisers are working hard to make sure that nothing is lacking at all times. Looking for excellence and ready to solve any unforeseen event. An organising committee formed by the Spanish Badminton Federation, BWF, the Cantabria Badminton Federation and collaborators of the City Council of Santander (through its Department of Sports), Government of Cantabria (through the Directorate General of Sports and the Directorate General of Tourism), the Consejo Superior de Deportes. As main sponsor of the event, YONEX and official sponsors such as Solares, Ambulancias Nereo Hermanos, Fisiopower and Supermercados Lupa. In addition to the contribution of the Federation’s sponsors: ECI, IBERDROLA and Loterías.

As part of this great family, we hope everyone enjoys the BWF World Junior Championship. We are waiting for you, with a big smile and open arms to tell you about our great passion, badminton.
