Asian dominance on the first day of the individual event at the World Junior Championship

The Asians want to stay on the podiums, and after seeing the high level of some countries like USA, Australia or Spain, they have gritted their teeth and raised the revolutions.

There were few surprises in the first round of this second week of the tournament in which the individual world crown is being disputed.

Athletes who have not been present in the team event are arriving in Santander, mainly from Europe and South America to compete against the athletes in the team event. After a short break, these young flyers return to Santander’s Palacio de los Deportes arena to give the rest.

Despite the Asian predominance we must highlight some results such as Cristina Teruel (Spain) who defeated Sofia Slosiarikova by 19-21 21-9 and 21-15. This victory will undoubtedly boost Cristina, as Sofia is part of the Badminton Europe centre of excellence.

The victory of the also Spanish Basilo Porto who won in three very hard games against the Peruvian Sharum Durand Cardenas by 21-19, 21-23 and 21-19. A marathon in which both gave absolutely everything.

And finally, the player from the United States, Ella Lin left behind the Chinese Xu Wen Jing in the first round by 14-21, 21-12 and 21-18.

A wonderful day full of top quality badminton that does nothing but go up and up in level.
